Our Canine Companions:
Excitement – Your dog will be very excited when picked-up. For this reason do not feed your pet (even though they will act hungry) for at least three hours, and then be very careful not to overfeed them. Excitement will cause your dog to pant a lot, lose body water and be thirsty. Give them a few ice cubes to tide them over until feeding time. Again, in this excited state, excessive food and water consumption can create problems.
Behavior – Sometimes temporary behavior changes are noticeable as a mood swing, weight gains or losses or an energy level increase or decrease may occur. These behavior changes are often their reaction to unfamiliar surroundings. Kennel life can be very exciting and each dog reacts and adjusts quite differently to changes in their daily routine.
Our Feline Friends:
Stress – Your cat will react much differently to a change in their environment compared to a dog. They do suffer from stress and this means that their normal immune process can be affected as well as their eating and digestive habits. After you have picked up your cat from the kennel, be sure to keep him locked in at home for a few days before allowing him to roam. Just as they had to adjust to the kennel, they will need to readjust to being home again. Allow them to find that “at home” feeling again before letting them out of the house.
Remember, the more often your cat boards, the more adjusted they will become with the kennel environment and the easier the boarding process will become for you and your cat.
Remember, Molly’s is an accredited PCSA kennel who is in the business of boarding because they love animals. They want boarding to be a pleasant experience for you and for your dog or cat.
